Contact UsGlass Doors Fit Modern Mountain Homes
A glass garage door turns the largest surface on the front of the house into a window wall. It suits homes where the garage faces the street and the architecture is clean, square and open.
Mountain modern and contemporary homes. Aluminum frames align with window mullions and steel siding lines. The door reads as part of the façade instead of a panel bolted to it.
Garages used as living space. Gyms, studios, car galleries and party rooms get daylight all day and a lit glass wall at night.
Lake and golf-course lots. Frosted or tinted glass lets light in without putting the garage on display to the fairway or the road.
Remodels that need a lighter look. Swapping a solid door for glass changes the whole elevation without touching the stone or siding.

Built for the Wasatch Back
A glass door at 7,000 feet faces 300 inches of snow, sub-zero nights, strong UV and 30-degree daily temperature swings. The door has to be specified for that, not for a showroom in the valley.
Insulated glass and thermal-break frames. Dual-pane units with polyurethane-filled frames limit heat loss and keep condensation off the inside of the glass on cold mornings.
Low-E coatings. UV at altitude fades floors, cabinets and vehicles. Low-E glass cuts that without darkening the garage.
Tempered and laminated safety glass. Standard on every door we install. Laminated glass also holds together if a rock from a snow blower hits it.
Reinforced sections. Fins and struts sized so the top section carries drifted snow sliding off the roof above the opening.
Cold-rated seals. Vinyl bottom seals and bulb-sealed section joints that stay flexible below zero instead of freezing to the slab.
Hardware for cold starts. Openers and springs rated for the weight of insulated glass and for cold-garage operation, so the door runs the same in January as in July.
Design Options
These are starting points. If the look you want is not here, bring a sketch or a photo and we will draw it.
Glass. Clear for a full-view door. Frosted or satin for privacy with full daylight. Grey or bronze tint to cut glare on west-facing doors. Mirrored glass to reflect the landscape and hide the garage completely. Obscure glass and white or black laminate for texture and a solid look.
Frame finish. Black, bronze, white and clear anodized in stock. Powder coat in any RAL or Sherwin-Williams color to match window frames, trim or steel siding.
Mullion layout. Horizontal lites in 1 to 6 per section. Vertical mullions aligned to the windows above. Offset or asymmetric layouts for modern elevations.
Mixed panels. Solid aluminum or wood-look panels in the bottom section to hide gear, with glass above.
Hardware and openers. Side-mount openers to keep the ceiling clear, battery backup for power outages, and smart controls for second-home owners who want to check the door from out of state.

Brands We Install, and When We Build Custom Instead
Monarch is not tied to one factory. We carry seven manufacturers, so the right glass door is never limited to a single catalog.
Stock and semi-custom. If a Clopay Avante, Amarr Vista, Wayne Dalton Luminous, Northwest Door Modern Classic or Martin Athena already does what you want, we install that. It is faster and costs less.
Fully custom. If no door on the market matches the drawing, we design the frame, mullion layout and glass package and have it built to spec by one of our manufacturing partners. Oversized openings, unusual lite patterns and exact color matches all go this route.

Frequently Asked Questions
How much does a glass garage door cost?+
Price depends on the frame (stock aluminum or custom), the glass package (single-pane, insulated, frosted, tinted or mirrored), the size of the opening, and the hardware. A custom frame with specialty glass costs more than a stock full-view door. We give a firm price after the site visit, with no obligation.
Are glass garage doors insulated?+
Yes, when specified that way. Dual-pane insulated glass with a polyurethane-filled aluminum frame is our standard for the Wasatch Back. Single-pane is available for unheated garages.
Can people see into the garage?+
Only with clear glass. Frosted, satin, tinted and mirrored glass all block the view while letting light in. Most Park City clients choose frosted or mirrored.
What is a full-view glass garage door?+
A door where every section is glass from edge to edge, with only the aluminum frame showing. It gives the most light and the cleanest modern look. Mixed doors put a solid panel in the bottom section to hide gear.
Can I get a black glass garage door?+
Yes. Black anodized or black powder-coated frames with clear, frosted or grey-tint glass are our most requested combination on mountain modern homes. Bronze and white are also in stock.
Frosted or tinted glass?+
Frosted gives privacy and even daylight. Tint cuts glare and heat on west- and south-facing doors but shows more at night when the garage is lit. Many doors combine both.
Can a glass garage door have a walk-through door built in?+
Yes. A pedestrian door can be built into one section so you can walk in without opening the whole door. It is common on garages used as gyms, studios or patio rooms.
Do you replace broken glass in garage doors?+
Yes. We replace single panes, full sections and failed insulated units on glass doors and on windowed steel or wood doors, across Park City, Heber and Salt Lake. Our technicians service what we install and most other brands.
What warranty comes with a glass door?+
It depends on the manufacturer. Clopay, Amarr, Wayne Dalton, Northwest Door and Martin each set their own terms for the frame, glass seals and hardware. We compare them with you during the design consult. Whichever door you pick, Monarch handles the service call.
